Industries we work in

uChem develops technologies and designs production facilities for the chemical, agrochemical, food and related industries. Below are the areas we work in, with examples of completed projects.

Rare and trace elements

Processing and obtaining products based on rare and trace elements

Laboratory research · Process design

We develop technologies for processing raw materials and waste that contain rare metals: from laboratory research to the process flow scheme, equipment selection and design documentation. In our own laboratory we use X-ray fluorescence (XRF) to determine the elemental composition of ores, concentrates, sludges and spent catalysts and to estimate the content of valuable components before a technology is chosen.
Project examples:- recycling of spent sulfuric acid vanadium catalyst.

Air purification systems

Design of air purification systems for harmful impurities and odors

Process design · Air purification equipment

We design systems for cleaning ventilation emissions of hydrogen chloride, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen compounds, solvent vapors and unpleasant odors. Depending on the gas composition we choose chemical cleaning (absorbers, scrubbers) or biological cleaning (biofilters), perform the process calculation and prepare fabrication drawings.
Project examples:- absorption column with a capacity of 15,000 m³/h for removing hydrochloric acid from pickling off-gases;- packed absorber for vent gases of a steel mill pickling section;- biofilter with a capacity of 3,000 m³/h for odor removal at a wastewater treatment plant;- solvent recovery system: up to 75% of the acetone is reused.
Equipment: chemical air purification systems, biological air purification systems.

Inorganic salts and compounds

Development of technologies for obtaining inorganic salts and compounds

Laboratory research · Process design

We develop technologies for obtaining inorganic salts and compounds from primary raw materials and industrial waste: laboratory tests, choice of the process flow scheme, equipment selection, capital cost and payback calculations, and design.
Project examples:- hydrometallurgical beneficiation of low-grade chromite ores;- processing of metallurgical mill scale;- compact module for preparing UAN and liquid complex fertilizer solutions from granulated fertilizers;- 50,000 t/year chlor-alkali plant in Uzbekistan: project management.

Precious metals

Development of technologies for the extraction and refining of precious metals

Laboratory research · Pilot-scale testing · Process design

We develop technologies for extracting precious metals from waste and refining them. We carry out laboratory research, develop the process flow scheme, run pilot-scale tests and design the production facility. Using XRF, we determine the content of valuable metals in the feedstock before processing starts, to assess whether processing is worthwhile.
What we process:- electronic scrap;- spent catalysts;- other waste containing precious metals.

Blended products

Development of technologies for the production of mixed products

Laboratory research · Process design

We develop formulations of blended products (water treatment and oilfield reagents, detergents and disinfectants, agrochemicals, car care products) and design blending units and workshops: process flow scheme, equipment selection, 3D model and drawings.
Project examples:- workshop for blended industrial water treatment reagents, Saudi Arabia;- production of oilfield chemicals, Qatar;- production of technical detergents for the food industry;- reagent mixing unit for agrochemicals;- hand-wash car shampoo formulation.

Sunflower oil production waste

Deep processing of sunflower oil production waste

Laboratory research · Pilot-scale testing · Process design

We develop technologies for deep processing of sunflower oil production waste, primarily lecithin production. We study the raw material in the laboratory, select the process flow scheme, verify it on a pilot unit and design the production facility.
Areas:- liquid lecithin technology;- dry lecithin technology;- related products from oil production waste.
