The current trend in food production is products of organic origin. And agricultural products are the initial component for further food production.
But unfortunately, in the XXI century, the plant origin of food products does not mean their environmental safety and exceptional benefits for the human body. If in the past fruits, vegetables and other crops were grown in a natural, or close to it, environment with the use of natural fertilizers, today the situation has fundamentally changed. Technology has made it possible to create fertilizers and means of protection and growth control that stimulate plant growth and fruit ripening, which, unfortunately, has nothing to do with natural processes. Vegetables and fruits grown on artificial fertilizers have occupied a very significant part of the world market, which has led to the demand for organic, natural goods. The countries of the European Union actively joined this process. And today, thanks to their joint efforts, organic agricultural products are in demand.
High demand for organic agricultural products in the countries of the European Union has become a reason for increased interest in the issue of exporting these products to the EU. Farmers involved in the cultivation of organic products have found their interest in this, starting cooperation with European companies and successfully promoting their products in European markets.
However, it should be noted that the compliance of products with the requirements of organic, in the case of imports, controlling bodies and self-regulatory organizations can check independently, with the help of their experts. And there were cases when their verdict on a certain batch of goods was negative
The fertilizers used can be a source of possible quality problems.
Often, farmers specializing in growing organic agricultural products use composted animal waste to increase yields, which in our region many people are accustomed to and traditionally used. However, if in the past they were 100% natural fertilizer due to the fact that the animals received plant food, today the situation has fundamentally changed. On most farms, animals are given complex vitamin mixtures as feed supplements, which provide faster live weight gain. Not surprisingly, the compost from such feeding contains traces of these additives in the form of antibiotics, hormones and drug residues, which often have very low biodegradability and are therefore unchanged in the plants.
But the main problem is that organic and antibiotic-containing compost fertilizers do not differ in appearance or smell. Only an accurate chemical analysis on a chromatograph can reveal the difference. And it can not be called expedient, because, in this case, the price of goods will increase, which will make them not competitive. At the same time, it is impossible to refuse fertilizers, because in this case the risk of reducing the number of crops is extremely high, because the annual use of the soil is depleted and needs to be nourished, which is given to it by fertilizers.
The main option to solve this problem is to search for raw materials rich in micro and macronutrients, but at the same time having a low risk of contamination with antibiotics and other drugs.
Our research group has found one of the solutions to this problem
Every day at enterprises that specialize in fish processing there is waste. We have conducted research and found that fish waste, as well as fish itself, is a source of a large number of nutrients that are necessary for agricultural crops, namely:
- phosphorus;
- nitrogen;
- amino acids;
- boron;
- zinc;
- iron;
- potassium;
- magnesium;
- manganese.
The only thing left was to learn how to produce organic fertilizers on the basis of this raw material, which would guarantee a good harvest.
The specialists of uChem developed a technology for the production of a new type of modern organic, environmentally friendly fertilizer. Numerous studies have shown the high efficiency of the new fertilizer in the cultivation of various organic crops. For example, tests on raspberries have shown that using this fertilizer, you can increase the yield by about 30%. And that's a lot!
Thanks to modern unique production technology in the fertilizer is completely free of pathogenic microorganisms. It should be noted that the characteristic odor of fish is only slightly perceptible. At the same time, the shelf life is quite high and ranges from 6 to 12 months.
Currently, the project team has started to develop the industrial realization of this process on the basis of raw materials and available equipment in Ukraine.
We invite possible partners and those interested in the production and use of organic fertilizers to cooperate in acquiring a license for this technology.
Traditionally, our licenses are accompanied by a full set of project documentation, as well as additional services for supervision, commissioning and training of personnel.
